Really, the name if this should be more like "communists lose". A timeline where monarchist Russia, non-communist China and the United States are the three ruling superpowers of the world,
Also to note, this isn't just your average timeline where the Tsar wins the Russian Civil War, this is specifically a timeline where a Tsarist Russia is a powerful ruler of the modern world.
Here's....how it ALL happened. Two key years people must remember, 1919.
It is 1917, Nicholas II and his family are slain in Yekaterinburg just like in OTL, the former Russian Empire is up in the flames of World War I and an a concurrent civil war, it is just not a good time to be in Russia. All other belligerents negligible, now the final showdown is on between the White Army and the Red Army for the ultimate control of Russia.
However........
On the verge of defeat, Grand Duke Cyril I Vladimirovich sacrifices his life, assumes control of the Provisional Government and places Pyotr Wrangel in charge of the White Armytemporarily becomes the "President" of the Provisional State as Cyril Romanov. Cyril isn't so hostile against "all socialists", and allows the anti-Bolshevik SRs to join their camp, in addition, also recognized Poland and Finland's independence, purging its camp of all those who who he feels will cause the downfall of the White case (bye bye Anton Denikin, Baron Wrangel was right to execute you).
Under the leadership of Grand Duke Kiril Vladimirovich (who was known for his openness to socialism and liberalism), and Baron Pyotr Wrangel, the two most sane-minded of all the White Movement, this results well, a HUGE ripple effect. Yeah fun fact...Lenin was nearly murdered in our OTL, not by a White fighter, but by a socialist (Fanny Kaplan) whom the Grand Duke and the Baron recruits. Also as you read...this new anti-Bolshevik coalition recognizes Finland and Poland's independence. Well in this timeline, Finland and Poland send volunteers into Russia, therefore the Petrograd Soviet is absolutely crushed, 1919 Moscow Offensive is much, much deadlier, which kills off an already-injured Lenin, who is executed publicly. Kiril becomes the succeeding Emperor, or Tsar, and is nothing like Nicholas II, quite the exact opposite.
The united White and anti-Bolshevik SRs coalition defeats the Bolsheviks, and a new "monarcho-socialism" emerges in Russia, however - Russia still proclaims itself to be a monarchial and Orthodox state, and attempts to protect monarchism in the same way as the Soviet Union of our OTL with communism.
Unfortunately though, Russians are still humans and as they say, this new White and Tsarist state is no-more free of corruption, lies and deceit as the Soviet Union of our OTL. Now, rather than the Red Terror, the White Terror commences, against any, and all suspected Bolsheviks and communists. Now, the PoD forks into two timelines at this point. In this current alternative timeline, Pyotr Wrangel contemplates on helping the northern warlords in China against the Kuomintang, but decides to vest his energy into enacting the White Terror in Russia. Additionally, Japan leaves Transbaikal as in our OTL. In the other timeline, he does help the Chinese, Japan also stays in Transbaikal, leading to the events of the WOIOCG timeline.
The Anti-Bolshevik coalition victory creates a ripple effect on the history of the Eastern World. The downfall of the communists in Russia means that other communist movements fall as well, Russia invades Mongolia and chase down the last remnants of the Bolsheviks, but still ends up allowing China, now under full Nationalist control, to take control of Mongolia. Cyril I helps other nobilities in Russia rebuild the Empire. A reform and modernization-minded Tsar, Cyril I helps Russia massively industrialize and modernize in the 1930s, also thanks largely to the election of liberal and socialist prime minister or Royal Grand Minister, Prince Pyotr Berngardovich Struve.
While the United States is an ally of the United Kingdom, it is truly between the British and Russian Empires for the ultimate largest monarchial empire in the East, to which is still, for-the-most part, dominated by the British.
And just like the Soviet Union of our OTL. in the late 1930s, the Russian Autocratic State avenges its loss against Japan, by beating them in 1937 in the Battle of Nanjing and the Khalkin Gol, Winter War never happens.
How about World War II?[]

Russian artillery firing against Japanese forces, 1943
Because there is no more communism, or Bolshevism, there is just no reason for Germany to turn against Russia. As a matter of fact, Russia is quite Axis-friendly in this timeline - up until the Senate was pressured into attacking Japan in 1937 in the Battle of Nanjing, what Christian neo-conservatives in Russia considered an attack on Christianity, forcing the Axis to call of Russian entry, disappointed Hitler and the Nazi Germans, who held favorable views towards the Tsar.
Even up to today, Russians still question the Kremlin's decision to attack Japan, in-knowing that both nations held enmity against the British Empire, though Russia nowhere near as Japan. Russia fights alongside China, and tries to sympathize with Chinese grievances against the Europeans.
Germany never wanted to invade Russia, but with Russia's attacks against Japan, is forced to declare war against it. However unlike today, the Western Theater is nowhere near as dramatic, and the Germans concentrated their attacks on harassment operations, and a few aerial bombardments, while Germany "doesn't like what the Russians did" against its ally Japan, it certainly "hates" the United States. It also due to the fact that the Romanovs are Germans, and so was the Procurator-General at the height of the Russo-German war, Vladimir P. Rennenkampf. Russia and Germany sign underground agreement limited engagements, and some contemplate - many of them were intentionally done via fake battles and fake casualty reports. Germany's war against Russia ends with the Treaty of Bratislava. The Russia allies with China against Japan, and the two become early Cold War allies. Yugoslavia like in our timeline, is liberated by militant groups, with some Russian aid. The only thing that gets Croats to side with the pan-Yugoslavs supported by Russia is the fact that Austria and Hungary are under Russian influence, which would again, put Croatia in an alliance with the two. The Commonwealth of Yugoslavia is formed, with real power being vested in the Procurator-General and Prime Minister, much like Russian monarchism. Draža Mihailović becomes the Procruraot-Gneral of Yugoslavia, and Slobodan Jovanović becomes the Prime Minister of Yugoslavia.
Unfortunate, the alliance between Russia and China does not last long. The two superstates, along with the United States sign the Pacific Agreements, demarcating the zones of influences of all three nations. Korea and Mongolia and northern Japan were under the wings of the Eastern powers, while the Philippines was under that of the United States. Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand were neutral, but rather friendly with Russia. The Chinese however, were upset by this, feeling that Mongolia, Korea and Southeast Asia belonged to their sphere of influence, leading to the Russo-Chinese conflict. The Russians were however, on the verge of turning the territories over to China once the economies stabilized, however Chinese warlords attacked the Russians, and lost the Russo-Chinese conflict, turning the East Asian and Southeast Asian nations against China. This now made Russia to undisputed power in the East.
The Russians also supported the Kingdom of Albania, and their kings have been supported even by the White Russians. With the Kingdom of Albania now under the Warsaw Pact as well, the entire Balkans was now pretty-much a Russian colony.

Germany is again partitioned. What fills in "East Germany" is the resurrected Prussia, separates from the American and Western ally-controlled "West Germany" to become a Russian ally. This Prussian state is composed of a mix of anti-western conservatives, not necessarily just "Nazis".

Russian Orthodox priests blessing soldiers, 1942
The "cold war" of this timeline is of territorial and foreign possession issues, but it still mainly ideological between republicanism and not communism, but monarchism. The Russian Empire is clearly a hell of a lot more powerful, and now considered the world's most powerful monarchy, replacing the shrunken British Empire.
The issue of espionage and diversion attempts still exists, as Russian-backed media attempts to remind British citizens of their government's refusal to take in the Romanovs, fueling Russian sympathies in the NATO country.
China on the other hand becomes Kuomintang-ruled, without a communist Soviet superpower state to support the communists, and under Kuomintang presidency under Chiang Kai-shek, whose rogue military foes initiates the Russo-Chinese conflict, just like Mao Zedong and the Sino-Soviet border conflicts of our OTL. Chinese motives was due to sheer anger over Russian occupation of Manchuria, Outer Mongolia and influence over Korea and Japan. Due to the wrecklessness of such a disastrous decision, and China - still being a weakened and traumatized state from decades upon decades upon decades of war and bloodshed, Chiang Kai-shek resigns, and retires. He is offered a residence in Kharbin.

Chinese soldiers confronting Russian soldiers, Manchuria 1964
Chen Cheng allows China to continue economic relations with the world, in which it too, just like the PRC of our OTL, grows to rival the Russian Empire in becoming a superpower of the East. Its navy modernizes much earlier than the PRC of our timeline, as China does have a proud naval tradition. The Chinese join the race to Africa and Southeast Asia, as the country has beef against both the Russian Empire and the United States.
The British Empire fades from the world power stage, and Russia overtakes it as the largest and most powerful monarchy in the world. This eventually forms Ukraine-esque feelings among conservative Brits against the United States, and large anti-American base exists in the United Kingdom, as does Japan.
In 1974, Russia invades Afghanistan after the 1973 coup attempt against its King which unlike the Soviet invasion of our timeline (happens years later), it a success. 1978, Russia, Afghanistan and China both intervene in the Iranian Revolution, supporting the preservation of the Shah, giving the monarchy arms, ammunition and money. Although China originally supported the rebels, but backtracked and collaborated reluctantly with Russia and Afghanistan. Via Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, Procurator General Sergey Korolev sends troops into Afghanistan and later Persia, under the permission of the Shah. Mohammad Reza Pahlava remains the Shah of Iran, and a number agreements are signed between Russian and Iranian leaders, leading to an alternated version of Russo-Iranian bromance.

Russian rocket exercise in Alash, training for possible Chinese invasion, 1966
Like our OTL, Russia experiences a Tumultuous 1990s. However, where it seriously deviates from the OTL is that unlike the Soviet Union, this Russia holds on, and it is ultimately China that experiences the Soviet-style collapse, to pave way for Russia to become the undisputed ruler of the East. Unfortunately, Russia still takes blows from the 1990s, and the Eastern nations are forced to cooperate with the West to maintain power and influence. The ruble is never devalued either.
Just like the NATO expansion in former Warsaw Pact territories of our timeline, Russia extends its influence into former Chinese territory, namely East Turkestan, Tibet. The East Turkestan Civil War breaks out between Islamists and pan-Turkic nationalists, leading to the breakaway republic of Dzhungaria, which unlike East Turkestan is not Islamic and is democratic. Both East Turkestan and Dzhungaria are uneasy allies of Russia.
Rise of China[]
Because of the communists don't ever come to power in China, President Chen Cheng of the Republic of China experiments with naval and aerial technology, and begins to build the Chinese navy way earlier than the PLA had in our original timeline. President Cheng adopted small-unit warfare, favoring quality small forces over large ones.
However, China absorbs the late cold war history of our OTL Soviet Union, and experiences massive territorial collapse in the 1990s, due to extreme discrimination of its native peoples. China loses Tibet and East Turkestan.
Emerging Superpowers[]
Brazil, India and Mexico, rise as emerging superpowers. Their status quo is the same as our OTE Mexico, India and Brazil - and their progress towards superpowerdom is hampered by extreme corruption, worse than that of China.
World Superpower Status, "Concert of Three"[]
The Russian Empire is currently the world superpower. At this point in time, the three main superpowers of the world are the Russian Empire United States and China in that order.
Other superpowers outside Russia?[]
United States?[]
Although the United States is minutely involved in this timeline, it is a superpower, and the superpower of the Western Hemisphere. This timeline however is focused on Russia's growth and reign in the East. NATO still exists, but it isn't as big, however the citizens of many NATO members hold lots of sympathy for Russia, especially monarchist groups operating in NATO republics. The situation exists where the citizens of NATO members most often-not, doubt NATO and simply roll their eyes whenever NATO complains about Russia (unlike today where everyone wants to become part of NATO to combat Putunist aggression).
This translates into businessmen from NATO nations doing business and finding wealth in Russia, which then further translated into having positive views of Russia, contributing to Russian economic power.
Even the people of the United States respect and hold sympathetic views for Russia, therefore NATO is becoming more of an alliance "on paper". In addition, because unlike the United States, while Russia has had its bad episodes with native non-Russian peoples, never translated into outright genocide and depopulation.
The United States in this timeline is simply an ailing superpower, whose citizens and allies are having strong doubts in it, and see it as a crony superpower ruled by money and nothing more, creating feelings of disgust among conservatives outside the United States.
China?[]
China's rise to power and prominence came during the late Cold War, and was poised to overtake Russia. However, corruption within the Kuomintang leadership restricts Chinese global power to several Southeast Asian countries.
What is keeping China from overtaking either Russia or the United States is the massive corruption within its government and society. However, it is able to retain the world's third superpower status, as it is still has overseas bases and allies.
World of Progressive Monarchies, Progressive Conservatism and Rise of Modern Paganism[]
Most of the world's monarchies are constitutional monarchies, who have embraced many progressive ideals. Absolutism is for the most-part, denounced by most monarchies of the world. In addition, nobilities have put the emphasis on becoming useful citizens of their Kingdoms and Empires, a lesson learned from the various revolutions that have threatened the nobilities worldwide.
As a result, most nobles aren't just nobles, but many have becoming businessmen, military leaders, economists, diplomats and etc. They aren't mere figureheads as one would expect in a constitutional monarchy of our OTL, and are very involved in their nations' progress.
Age of morganatic marriages[]
Somewhere along the line, many progressive monarchists have figured that using noblewomen as mere breeding tools is well...SEXIST and noblewomen for breeding weren't always gonnab e available. Therefore, many royal houses have begun honoring morganatic marriages, however said-suitor for nobleman or woman must be heavily-approved by head of royal family.
Many nobilities however, had already been honoring morganatic marriages, such as the Wrangels, Ungern-Sternbergs, Livenskys and Rennenkampfs of the Russian Empire, many in the German Empire are reviewing.
Progressive-Conservatism[]
Let's face it, monarchism in its roots is very conservative, often religious and theocratic in nature. Therefore, Atheism, while on a steady rise and making large minorities, is significantly lower than in our timeline. However, religious liberalism takes atheism's place, with many feeling that their religion is part of their cultural identity, without the God-damn need to spill blood. After the collapse of the United States, the monarchial re-risen states of Europe are all ruled by progressive conservatives, "conservatives" in keeping the monarchy, its culture and religion alive, however are heavily embracive of globalism.
Modern Pagan Revival[]
Also, just like the Illuminati of our OTL, there is a huge, huge pagan resurgence of this timeline. However, while their existence is known, and they have fully-operating temples where visitors and come and learn, their actual members like to feign Christian, Muslim, Buddhist identities and etc., to avoid detection and/or persecution. However, many such as the Order of Perun, Church of Kolliada and the Canaanite Order have been established as "Heritage Religions" by their respective governments.
A List of Prominent Crypto-Pagan Religions[]
- Order of Perun (Slavic countries, banned in Catholic Slav countries like the Czech Republic and Croatia)
- Church of Perkunas (Baltics and Finland, allied with the Order of Perun)
- Church of Kolliada (Slavic countries)
- Sons and Daughters of Odin (Germanic countries and Anglosphere, as well as Ireland also a strong presence in the Russian Empire)
- Tengrism (Mongolic and Turkic-speaking regions)
- Canaanite Order (Palestine)
- Beit Raab (Palestine)
- Moabite Order (Jordan)
- South Arabian Order (Yemen, also with a presence in Somalia and Ethiopia)
- Great Old Arabian Order (former Saudi Arabia, Arabian Peninsula)
- Native Greco-Roman Religion (Greece and the Latinic-speaking countries obviously)
- Church of Uktena (Cherokee, Native American)
- Native First Nations Church (Canada, First Nations paganism)
- Modern Temple of Amun-Ra (Egypt, Sudan)
- Iglesia de Quetzcotl (Mexico, California, Texas)
