The Xinhua News Agency is the official press agency of the People's Republic of China. Xinhua is the biggest and most influential media organization in China. Xinhua is a ministry-level institution subordinate to the Chinese central government. Its president is a member of the Central Committee of China's Communist Party. It is a publisher as well as a news agency.

The media outlet as 170 bureaus worldwide and 31 bureaus within mainland China. Majority of state-owned newspapers rely on Xinhua for story material, such as the People's Daily. Xinhua currently serves worldwide.

Recently, Xinhua has been covering the ongoing Chinese insurgency, where it has continuously praised the Chinese Communist Party and the People's Liberation Army. The news agency was recently criticized by China Uncensored, a YouTube-based podcast owned by the New Tang Dynasty Television. The criticism centered around a leased Xinhua News electronic billboard in Times Square, New York City reporting biased pro-China news in a the center of America's famous landmarks.
