The Byzantines Win at the Battle of the River Yarmuk (Yarmuk)

In August 636 AD, the fledgling Rashidun Caliphate led forces against the armies of the mighty Byzantine Empire near the Yarmuk River in present day Jordan. After a week of fighting, the armies of the Arab caliphate were forced to withdraw taking their new religion, Islam, with them.
