The Years of Chaos was a period of severe unrest and civil conflict following the collapse of the Greater German Reich at the end of World War III in 1973.
Background[]
German forces surrendered to American forces following the fall of Berlin on July 27, 1973, ending 11 years of consistent warfare. Germany was eventually divided into occupational zones between France, the UK, and the United States.
Through the Hitler Youth and emphasis on loyalty in the Nazi party, several paramilitaries and terrorist groups began to arose. Elsewhere in the world, geopolitical and internal political conflicts sparked devastating conflicts, leading to a period historians coined the Years of Chaos.

Assassination of Charles, Prince of Wales[]

On August 13, 1986, Charles, Prince of Wales, visited Hamburg, Germany to assess the reconstruction efforts of British construction companies. He proceeded towards a crowd of people, whom he spoke and shook hands with. When reaching his hand towards Titus Marco Vincent, Vincent fired a .22 caliber pistol into Charles' chest, mortally wounding him. Vincent was quickly apprehended while Charles was rushed to a hospital, when he was later pronounced dead.
The event shocked the world, and his death brought more attention towards the neo-Nazi organizations within Europe. Vincent was later charged and executed.

In 1991, Russia was scheduled to hold a presidential election. The frontrunner, Vladimir Putin, was a veteran of the Second Great Patriotic War and a popular media figure, having starred in various films. However, Putin was assassinated while on the campaign trail. His death caused his supporters to violently attack opposition politicians, and eventually rallied among one of Putin's closest advisors, NAME TBD, who'd launch a coup against who he'd call the "radical government that killed our savior."
Founding of the Die Eisenwacht[]

While not becoming more well known until the 2020s, Die Eisenwacht had still been a tiveduring the Years of Chaos. Matthijs Eckbert would form the group in 1992 with companions René Børge and Helfried Kennet. Through extensive measures, the group began to grow throughout the 90s, beginning to launch smaller attacks in Germany.
