Zaïre, officially the Republic of Zaïre (French: République du Zaïre) is a semi-presidential republic located in central Africa that shares borders with Cameroon, the Central African Republic, and Sudan to the north, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and East Africa to the east, Angola, Barotseland, Zambezia to the south, and Congo to the west.
Originally established as the colony of Belgian Congo and administered as the Congo Free State for [TBD] years, from 1885 to 1960, when the Congo was granted independence.
